DESCRIPTION:

Position responsibilities:
*Provides leadership and direction for the department based on hospital strategic plan and planning, organizing, and directing in all areas of pharmaceutical services including clinical pharmacy, central supply chain, order entry, and participation in Market and Division initiatives.
*Oversees financial management of department through resource management including labor and supply management including SMAT.
*Manages department personnel by hiring, orienting, and educating staff.
*Supervises the administrative department management through policies and procedures.
*Is familiar with the operation of the department. Must be able to function in an appropriate staff capacity, as scheduling and patient need demands.
*Supervises the performance improvement activities of the department
*Maintains a safe department work environment.
*Carries out all department specific responsibilities such as supervising the staff pharmacists, technicians, policies and procedures, meetings, scheduling, and reports.
*Responsible for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee or other committees assigned.
*Supports the improvement and accomplishment of organizational-wide objectives through interdepartmental teamwork and planning.
*Stays current with Joint Commission, state and other regulatory standards and leads efforts to maintain compliance.
*Attend Code of Conduct training course annually
*Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCAs Code of Conduct
*Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRHs commitment to HCAs Code of Conduct
*Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)
*Adheres to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations Policy
Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience:
*Bachelors degree in related field from an accredited college or university
*Knowledge of professional principles and practices and verbal interpersonal and quantitative skills.
*Recent experience with implementation of Joint Commission, CMS and other related standards
*Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy.
*Registered Pharmacist in good standing per Indiana
*Board of Pharmacy regulations
*Computer literacy & familiarity with nearly all Microsoft Office products
*Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)
Certification: BLS and Pharmacy License must be maintained throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital
Valued but not required educational/licensure, skills and experience:
Strong problem solving skills.
3-5 years progressive management experience
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or graduate degree
Above average communication skills in all forms
Vast experience in Clinical Pharmacy
Prior leadership in Hospital Pharmacy
Physical demands and the work environment:
Physical demands: This position will require you to frequently lift equipment that weighs 10 lbs. or less. Occasionally lifts 25 lbs. Position requires incumbent to be seated at most times. Occasional bending and stooping required.
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, you may be exposed hazardous chemicals, fumes, gas, and vapors.
OSHA Category III: The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Position is not required to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
