DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
Responsible for the administration, coordination and supervision of research pharmaceutical services at GUH. Coordinates all aspects of pharmaceutical needs for patients participating in investigational protocols and receiving chemotherapeutic and non-chemotherapeutic agents including but not limited to: implementation and distribution of medication order and investigational drugs, devices, and biologics order; provide assurance of appropriate dose, route, frequency and duration of therapy; review patient medication profiles for drug-drug interactions, duplication of therapy, drug allergy interactions and appropriate regimens; coordinate patients pharmaceutical needs with physicians and nurses. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetowns philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
Required Education/Training:
Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. degree, Masters or Pharm. D. degree. Current DC license as a Pharmacist or eligible for licensure by examination or reciprocity.
Required Experience:
Minimum of two to four years as a research/investigational drug services pharmacist. Some supervisory experience is preferred. Extensive knowledge of the theory and practice of research pharmacy service, good written and verbal communication skills.
Must demonstrate and maintain knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care for patients participating in research protocols that involve the use of drugs, biologics, and devices in the following age groups: geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonate.
Must demonstrate knowledge in understanding of changes in physiology in various age groups, understanding of drug pharmacokinetics and toxicities in various age groups, and understanding of proper selection of drugs.
